BOEKENHOUTHOEK – On the December, 30 2018 the residents were entertained with kasi flavour soccer styles at Bucs Goodwill games held at Boekenhouthoek in KwaNdebele.
The tournament included 16 teams from around KwaNdebele villages. The founder and organiser of the tournament, Bharhu Mthombeni told Mpumalanga Press that lots of future soccer stars were spotted during these games. “The aim of this tournament is to unearth local talent by giving them exposure to different soccer scouts who are also invited to attend our games. We were fortunate because Mr Tim Sukazi, TS Galaxy chairman was part of the attendees wherein some talented players’ maybe scouted to play for TS Galaxy in the National First Division,” said Bharhu Mthombeni.
This is an annual soccer event sponsored by Bharhu Mthombeni, the local business man who also heals from KwaNdebele.
All 16 teams displayed an attacking system. This proved the fact that KwaNdebele has a talent. We just need to nurture these boys and ensure they play in the National first Division (NFD) and Premier Soccer League (PSL) in the upcoming years. Excellent players were given prizes according to the below categories: the player of the tournament, coach of the tournament, referee of the tournament, top goal scorer, the goalkeeper of the tournament and others who excel throughout the tournament.
Bucs Goodwill games has grown from strength to strength since the inception of the games back in 2012. The winning price took away R85 000.00 plus a trophy and runners up took away R45000.00, third place took away R18000.00 and the forth place took away R10000.00.
In the final of the games Real Madrid from Boekenhouthoek successfully defended their championship by defeating Gembok Classic 1-0. More is yet to come, concluded Mthombeni.
