Kwaggafontein – On Wednesday 2018-07-18 Public Protector Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane celebrated Mandela Day at Kwaggafontein C Mkhephuli Secondary School where she matriculated in 1988.
The following stakeholders were part of the celebration. Office of the Public Protector; Thembisile Hani Local Municipality (Mayor and the councillors); Pastors; Traditional Leaders; SASSA; SAPS; CPF; Department of Education Department of Agriculture; NYDA; Ikwekwezi FM, local structures and community at large. Message of support was presented by different stakeholders under the theme 67 minutes “#bethelagacy.”
Advocate Mkhwebane in her speech, she motivated learners about the importance of studying and the respect that should be given to the educators. They must not expect to be employed all of them but others must be entrepreneurs. She further requested the principal Mr Nkambule to identify 6 best learners from grade 10 to grade 12 (two learners per grade) so that she can adopt and mentor them.
After the speeches different chores were divided amongst the attendees (painting of school roof, installing of shelves at store room, planting of vegetables and cleaning of school yard). Goodie bags with sanitary towels were donated to all the girls and garden tools were also donated to the school.
