Remains of unidentified person were found in Zoeknog, next to Mashego’s initiation school on Thursday morning.
The body was discovered by young men, who were apparently hunting for monkeys in the veld next to Ga-Pharea village in Casteel. Upon discovering the body, the young men said that they immediately contacted the Better Residents Association (BRA) leader Delta Mokoena, who didn’t hesitate in communicating the matter to the police after handing the memorandum to them on the same afternoon.
Upon arrival, they, in the presence of Bushbuckridge News, discovered that only the skull and bones remained, and although it was believed that the deceased might be a female because of the old pink skirt which had covered the bones, the red striped t-shirt covering the upper body bones didn’t seem to belong in a woman’s wardrobe.
The skull depicted an injury scar on its back, which led to residents gathering on the scene, they also assume that the person may have been killed and left there to rot. A short prayer and moment of silence was then held by the BRA members at the scene as they waited for the crime scene investigating team.
Acornhoek Communications Cluster Co-ordinator Captain Nonyane said, an inquest case has been opened, and called on community members from surrounding areas and those who might have any pending missing person’s cases in their families to contact Colonel Manzini on 082 469 1031.
